Russia to build three new factories to make ABM systems

“The programme provides for big money – three trillion roubles,” stated the vice-premier Rogozin said

MOSCOW, January 28 (Itar-Tass) — Russia will build three new factories to produce ABM systems for troops of air-space defence, said on Saturday vice-premier Dmitry Rogozin.

“I held a meeting on Friday at the Almaz-Antei Company, which discussed prospects for various R and D works. We shall build new factories; we intend to build three new factories only for air-space defence,” the vice-premier said at the general meeting of the Academy of Military Sciences, which he attended.

Rogozin also noted that a new factory to made advanced sniper’s weapons was built in Moscow. “On February 16, the chairman of the State Duma Defence Committee and the chairman of the Federation Council Defence and Security Commission as well as I will inspect the new factory in Moscow on making advanced sniper’s weapons.

The plant eclipses all European enterprises in technologies of equipping the factory and quality of goods and goes abreast only with American plants,” the vice-premier said.

“This means that we can build factories, and we are duty-bound to build them and perform deep-going modernization of enterprises of the military-industrial complex,” the vice-premier underlined.

He expressed confidence that this aim will be promoted by the draft of a federal targeted programme for the development of the military-industrial complex, which is to be submitted to the government by next March 1.

“The programme provides for big money – three trillion roubles,” stated the vice-premier. He specified that these resources are allocated in addition to those which are planned to be spent on purchases of military goods within the state programme of armaments till 2020.
