MOSCOW, January 27 (Itar-Tass) — Deputy of the State Duma Communist (CPRF) faction Anatoly Lokot on behalf of the faction on Friday presented head of the Central Election Commission (CEC) Vladimir Churov with scissors.
“I gave him a pair of scissors. He had once promised that if there are violations (at elections) he would shave himself. I told him that the scale of violations is such that it is necessary to fulfil his promises and shave,” Lokot told Itar-Tass. According to the lawmaker, he carefully put the scissors in a case, “cleaned with cologne, sharpened, they are good scissors.”
“He (Churov) asked: are the scissors good? I told him that I sharpened them myself,” the lawmaker added.
Vladimir Churov takes part in the Government Hour of questions and answers in the State Duma devoted to the discussion of the December parliamentary elections.
After his election as chairman of the CEC in 2007 Churov promised that he would shave his beard in the case of unfair elections.
