ROSTOV-ON-DON, January 27 (Itar-Tass) — More than 200 thousand residents of Russia’s Krasnodar Territory have been cut off from electricity supply.

The Southern Regional Centre of the RF Emergency Situations Ministry (EMERCOM) told Itar-Tass that at 06:12, Moscow time, because of breakage of wires, caused by strong gusts of wind, the city of Novorossiisk and several nearby populated localities remained without electricity supply. A total of 112 thousand people are cut off from the power grid. Among the social facilities - 4 hospitals, 9 schools, 12 kindergartens and 24 boilers have been affected by the blackout. Medical establishments and boilers by now have started to get power supply from a reserve system.

At 08:53, Moscow time, the city of Anapa and 7 rural settlements located in the district were de-energised. The total number of people living in the area who have been affected by the outage is more than 100 thousand. Health care institutions are also powered from the reserve system, however, 31 kindergartens and 24 secondary schools are still without electricity supply.

The restoration efforts are underway, however, they are impeded by the continuing high winds and mountainous terrain where the breakage of wires of power transmission lines occurred.
