MOSCOW, January 27 (Itar-Tass) —— The Russian Investigative Committee (SK) completed the investigation against a doctor, which is blamed for the death of Vera Trifonova in custody, according to the detectives, spokesman of the Russian Investigative Committee Vladimir Markin told Itar-Tass on Friday.
“The main investigation department of the Investigative Committee in Moscow completed the investigation in a separate criminal case against reanimatologist – anaesthesiologist of the MONICA clinic Alexandra Artamonova over the death of Vera Trifonova accused of fraud in the detention centre. Artamonova is charged under Article 109 Part 2 for causing death through negligence over the negligent performance of official duties by an official,” Markin said.
The detectives found that overnight to April 24, 2010, Artamonova put Vera Trifonova on a haemodialysis session, after that she removed the catheter, which was installed in the femoral vein. “Meanwhile, the doctor did not warn the patient about the risk of thrombophlebitis. The thromb was formed in the place, where the catheter was installed that caused the death of Trifonova,” the SK spokesman said.
Artamonova and her lawyers are studying the case files.
“Meanwhile, the investigation in the criminal case against a detective of the main investigation department in the Moscow Region Sergei Pysin continues. The detectives will also investigate the role of officials in the penitentiary system, which were involved in the keeping of Vera Trifonova under arrest.
