STRASBOURG, January 26 (Itar-Tass) —— Leonid Slutsky of the Russian State Duma lower parliament house has been elected a vice president of the Parliamentary Assembly of the Council of Europe (PACE) for the term of two years.
Slutsky, the chairman of the State Duma CIS committee, has replaced another Russian lawmaker, Konstantin Kosachyov, the former head of the Russian delegation to PACE and former chairman of the Duma international affairs committee, who now is first deputy chairman of the sane committee in the State Duma of the new convocation and is no longer a member of the Russian PACE delegation.
A PACE vice president is a member of the Bureau of the Assembly (a statutory body) and takes part in the preparation of the Assembly’s agenda and may chair plenary sessions.
