MOSCOW, January 26 (Itar-Tass) — The results of the checks into the authenticity of videos featuring violations in the Duma elections which were demonstrated on the Internet have been sent to the Russian Investigatve Committee ( SK)and the Interior Ministry, Chief of the Central Election Commission Vladimir Churov said on Thursday.
"Unconfirmed facts circulated on a number of the Internet sites arouse tension when election commissions are being formed in constituencies," Churov said. In particular, Churov referred to Yabloko party which displayed the so-called Churov List on its web site which includes the names of members of the election commissions. "In fact, it is the matter of blaming crimes on people against whom no court verdict exists. I look upon the case as an attempt to violate the Russian constitution," Churov said.
The Central Election Commission has already complained to the Prosecutor's General in connection with this problem because a possibility of a threat to exercise pressure on the CEC members cannot but arouse our concern, Churov said.
The CEC and workers of the Interior Ministry have studied several dozen videos displayed on the Internet, and the materials of the checks have been sent to the Interior Ministry and the Investigative Committee to pass a procedural resolution, Churov said.
"I would like that proper attention be paid to the very procedure of the formation of election commissions so that no criminal elements could penetrate," Churov said.
