MOSCOW, January 25 (Itar-Tass) — Billionaire Mikhail Prokhorov, who was registered as candidate for Russian president earlier on Wednesday, has thanked his team and all those who helped him collect signatures in support of his presidential bid.
He said that it was not very easy for people to support him. “Someone might have felt fear to support a non-government candidate,” he said.
“Plunging into the presidential race I am aware of the responsibility I will have to bear,” he said.
He promised to direct all his efforts to “furnish a possibility to the most active and responsible citizens, such as teachers, medics, businessmen, students, people of culture to have respect to their rights,” and to “build a new Russia, a country free from corruption, alcoholism, thievery, and arbitrariness of the red tape, a country, where a human life is above presidential decrees.”
“Thank you all. I will not let you down,” he said after registration.
