TOMSK, January 25 (Itar-Tass) — Russia’s Rosneft and Gazpromneft express readiness to finance Tom football club based in the Siberian city of Tomsk, if its structure becomes transparent, Prime Minister Vladimir Putin told a meeting with students of Tomsk Polytechnic University.
“If competent shareholders or non-commercial partnership members enter the club, I guarantee – Tom will have a reliable, financially secured and competent participant represented by subsidiaries either of Rosneft or Gazpromneft,” Putin said.
“If people, football fans, players themselves, sport managers, including managers of the Tom team, want to see the club operating on the well-grounded basis, it is necessary to make the whole process transparent and find out who owns and what, what the ownership rights are in reality and to understand financial flows,” he said.
