MOSCOW, January 25 (Itar-Tass) — President Dmitry Medvedev will visit the Moscow State University (MGU) journalism department on Mokhovaya Street again on Wednesday, the Day of Russian Studentry (popularly referred to as St Tatiana Day marking the date of the founding of MGU) and is ready to discuss any questions that are of interest to the students.
Presidential press secretary NataliaTimakova has told Itar-Tass, "The meeting will be held in a free-wheeling manner which presupposes an exchange of views on any matters, without limitations".
Medvedev will discuss such themes as the development of the media in Russia, the founding of a public television, and the role of the Internet in the present-day media environment. Timakova pointed out, "The President is ready to discuss most diverse themes. He is interested in hearing the students' opinions about the development of the mass media in our country, learn about their vision of the role of the Internet in contemporary media, and discuss the idea of founding a public television". In his Address to the Federal Assembly (parliament), Medvedev suggested establishing a public television on the basis of one of Federal TV channels, with relevant proposals on that score to be submitted to him before March 1.
Just as was the case during Medvedev's first visit to the MGU, the meeting will be held in the "academic hour" format. Medvedev himself will regulate the course of the conversation.
