ASTANA, January 24 (Itar-Tass) —— Kazakhstan plans to export 15 million tonnes of grain this year, including 8.7 million tonnes of grain in the first half of the year, the Kazakhstani Agriculture Ministry said on Tuesday.
“For the full use of the republic’s export potential [15 million tonnes], it is necessary to deliver abroad 10.2 million tonnes of grain, including flour and 8.7 million tonnes of grain, by July 1, 2102,” the ministry wrote in a statement.
In 2011, the country gathered a record high grain harvest of 26.9 million tonnes, which is 2.2 times more than in 2010, the ministry reaffirmed. A part of the harvest has already been delivered to the external markets.
According to the ministry, “the country exported about 4.1 million tonnes of grain, including flour, in the period from September through December 2011.”
