Ukraine’s biggest gas producer Ukrgazdobycha raises gas output in 2011

The company produces almost 75 percent of the country’s gas output. Ukrgazdobycha is a subsidiary of the Naftogaz Ukrainy company

KIEV, January 23 (Itar-Tass) —— Ukraine’s biggest gas producing company Ukrgazdobycha increased the natural gas output by 0.5 percent in 2011, as compared to 2010, and reached 14.9 billion cubic metres, the company’s press service said on Monday, adding that this was one of the highest achievements of the enterprise over the past years.

The growth of the indicators may be explained by the commissioning of 65 new oil and gas holes in 2011, launching of the Kievskaya reciprocating compressor station in the Kharkov region and exploration of the Borovoye, Kuzmicheskoye and Kharkovskoye fields of hydrocarbons, the press service said.

The company produces almost 75 percent of the country’s gas output. Ukrgazdobycha is a subsidiary of the Naftogaz Ukrainy company.

In 2011, the republic raised gas production by 0.4 percent to 20.1 billion cubic metres. The Ukrainian government sets the task to step up gas production to minimise the republic’s dependence on the import of energy resources.
