BEIRUT, January 22 (Itar-Tass) — A group of Syrian insurgents captured part of Douma on Saturday evening, one of Damascus suburbs. According to reports coming from Douma, street fighting continues there.

Insurgents block streets with barricades. Shooting and blasts are heard in the city.

According to reports, there are casualties on both sides. However, the exact number of the killed and wounded is unknown so far.

Troops that deserted from the Syrian army make up the bulk of insurgents.

Douma is located around 20 kilometers from Damascus. Population of the suburb is 200,000.
