MOSCOW, January 16 (Itar-Tass) — The Russian Liberal Democratic Party leader said on Monday he would run for presidency with the slogan “Zhirinovsky, or it will be even worse”.
At a news conference on Monday, Vladimir Zhirinovsky pledged radical changes in case of his victory on March 4, including abolishment of the unified state exam, compulsory employment for graduates for the period of six months domiciliary, free of charge apartments for young families as well as large-scale amnesty. He also said “migrants will go home so that our fellow countrymen could get jobs”. “We will achieve that in two to three years,” Zhirinovsky promised.
The LDPR leader also said he supported all demands of the opposition voiced at meetings in Bolotnaya Square and Academician Sakharov Avenue, but added that his party would not join the meeting scheduled for February 4, but instead would organize its own meeting.
Zhirinovsky also promises that if he becomes president, he will announce an early election to the State Duma lower house of parliament in May 2013.
However, Zhirinovsky fears that “the opposition will not come to power in Russia peacefully”. He maintains that the United Russia Party and the political elite in power have “arranged” to rule till the year 2030, periodically “changing places”, and after that enthrone their “nestling”.
Zhirinovsky believes the Liberal Democratic Party has all chances to win, as, according to him, this is what the people want. “Just ask the people,” he summed up.
