MOSCOW, January 12 (Itar-Tass) —— The director-general of a company was detained in Moscow as a suspect in connection with an explosion in the Il Pittore restaurant in Moscow, Vadim Yakovenko, the head of the Main Investigation Department of the Investigation Committee of the Russian Federation for Moscow, told ltar-Tass.

“Suren Mkrtchyan, the director-general of the Casa Bella joint stock company, has been detained as a suspect in connection with an explosion in a restaurant and is questioned,” Yakovenko said.

He said investigators planned to turn to court on Friday to ask that the suspect be taken into custody.

The explosion in a restaurant in South West Moscow occurred in the afternoon on January 9. Three persons died and 39 others were injured and hospitalized.
