MOSCOW, January 12 (Itar-Tass) —— The nuclear-powered submarine Yekaterinburg, damaged by a fire, will be back in service in the summer of 2014, Deputy Prime Minister Dmitry Rogozin said in his microblog in the Twitter social network.

“We are hoping to return the submarine to the Navy earlier than it was originally expected – in the summer of 2014,” Rogozin said in reply to a question from one of the netowork’s users.

Currently, The Yekaterinburg is at a base near Severomorsk, and most probably it will be delivered to Sevmash at Severodvinsk for repairs at the end of May or early June, when the White Sea is clear of ice.

The submarine caught fire during repair work inside a dry dock in the town of Roslyakovo, the Murmansk Region, on December 29. At first, the wooden scaffolding around the hull caught fire, which then spread onto the submarine-coated outer hull. Eleven people were injured in the incident.
