NALCHIK, January 12 (Itar-Tass) — Two militants have been destroyed in a special operation near the village of Kremenchug-Konstantinovskoye in Kabardino-Balkaria's Baksan district, law-enforcement bodies said on Thursday in a preliminary report.
"There has been no information on casualties among the police," an officer told Itar-Tass.
Earlier in the day, the law-enforcement bodies resumed the special operation against an armed group in the Baksan district, which fired on police on Wednesday.
The regime of anti-terrorist operation was introduced in the area south of the village of Kremenchug-Konstantinovskoye from 20:00, Moscow time, on Wednesday, until further notice. The decision was made by head of the regional department of the Federal Security Service Major-General Sergei Kmennny, "with the view of preventing terrorist attacks, ensuring the safety of citizens, organizations and institutions and finding and detaining the criminals in hiding."
A number of special measures and temporary restrictions will be effective in the area during the period of the anti-terrorist operation.
