Crew of Artur Ardavichus on Kamaz truck wins Dakar 10th stage

The crew covered a 377-km stretch between the Chilean cities of Iquique and Arica in 5 hours and 6 minutes

BUENOS-AIRES, January 12 (Itar-Tass) — The crew of Kazakhstan’s racer Artur Ardavichus of the Kamaz-Master team has won the 10th stage of the Dakar-2012 rally in the truck class.

The crew covered a 377-km stretch between the Chilean cities of Iquique and Arica in 5 hours and 6 minutes. Ardavichus’ partner in Kamaz Russian Andrei Karginov was second finishing two minutes after the winner. The leader of the rally, Dutchman Gerard de Rooy from the Iveco team finished third at this stage.

The victory allowed Ardavichus to rise to the third place in the Dakar-2012 general standing. Karginov has the fifth intermediate result. The third crew of Kamaz headed by Ilgizar Mardeyev is sixth.

Russian Leonid Novitsky (driving Mini All4) in seventh in the race of four runners, 32 minutes behind his teammate Joan Nani Roma. The overall leader Stephane Peterhansel finished second, and Giniel de Villiers of the Toyota team finished third.
