Russian children hospitalized with gastroenteritis released from clinic in Belarus

MINSK, January 11 (Itar-Tass) —— Young athletes from Russia, who were hospitalized with gastroenteritis symptoms in Belarus’ Brest region, have all been released from hospital.

According to a source in the hospital of the town of Lyakhovichi, ten children were discharged on Tuesday, and the other three – on Wednesday.

A total of 13 Russian children, members of a judo youth team, were taken to a hospital in Lyakhovichi on January 9 with a diagnosis of gastroenteritis, or inflammation of the gastrointestinal tract. They are expected to leave for Moscow later in the day.

The children, aged from eight to 17, came here from Moscow and the Moscow region for a team practice session. They were accommodated at a children’s sports school in Lyakhovichi. Catering services were provided by a local private caf·. Experts will say what had caused the gastroenteritis outbreak after clinical tests are over.
