BARNAUL, January 11 (Itar-Tass) — Russia’s Sibir airlines will have to pay 30,000 roubles in fines for two delayed flights to Thailand from Novosibirsk, a spokesman for the West Siberian transport prosecutor’s office told Itar-Tass on Wednesday.
On September 3, 2011, as many as 94 Sibir passengers were to take off from Novosibirsk for Thailand’s Phuket but after 16 hours’ delay they were taken to Russia’s Irkutsk, from where they finally flew to Thailand. Another similar case was reported on September 24, 2011. A total of 187 passengers had to wait for nine hours to take off for Phuket.
The Novosibirsk region court of arbitration brought Sibir to administrative responsibility for violating license regulations and bound it to pay a fine of 30,000 roubles.
