PYONGYANG, January 10 (Itar-Tass) —— On the day of the 100th birth anniversary of “the first and eternal” President of the country Kim Il Sung and the 70th birth anniversary of Kim Jong Il, who died on December 17 of a heart attack, the DPRK announces amnesty on Tuesday.
The decision will come into force on February 1, the Korean Central News Agency reported.
The order, adopted by the presidium of the Supreme People’s Assembly /parliament/, reads that the government and authorities “will undertake measures to employ” former prisoners.
The DPRK celebrates the birthday of Kim Il Sung on February 16, and the birthday of Kim Jong Il – on April 15.
