ROSTON ON DON, January 9 (Itar-Tass) —— Security forces have killed five rebels in a special operation in Chechnya.
The operation began on Sunday, January 8, when a well equipped rebel base had been discovered in the mountains in the republic’s the Vedeno District. Four law enforcers were killed and 16 wounded by rebels’ booby traps and gunfire.
Security forces pursued the rebels throughout the night and resumed the active phase of the operation at dawn.
“In all likelihood, everyone who was at the discovered base was killed,” law enforcement agencies said.
