ROSTOV-ON-DON, January 9 (Itar-Tass) — Four law enforcers were killed and another twelve were wounded in a gunfight with militants and explosion of trap mines in Chechnya’s Vedeno district on Sunday.
Near the village of Tazen-Kala the Interior Ministry troops found a well-fortified base of militants, who offered resistance, the law enforcement agency told Itar-Tass on Monday.
No less than three militants were killed.
Troops are pursuing a group of ten militants. The active phase of the operation will resume in the daylight.
The operation takes place in a hard-to-reach mountainous area.
