BRYANSK, January 8 (Itar-Tass) — A young woman with an 18-month-old child in the perambulator fell down in a asphalt cave-in in Bryansk on Sunday.
The incident occurred at about 14:00 Moscow time between the monument to pilots and a supermarket, the press services of regional emergencies service and police department in the Bryansk Region told Itar-Tass on Sunday.
The rescuers and the police reported a water pipe ruptured creating a crater under the walkway. The ground caved in, when the woman with the perambulator were walking on the walkway. A nearby pedestrian managed to get the woman out of the hole. The child died in the water flow from the ruptured pipe.
Emergency teams with special machinery are working at the incident site, trying to take the dead child from the pipe. The chiefs of the emergency, police departments and a branch of the Investigative Committee in the Bryansk Region are controlling the search operation.
