KIEV, January 7 (Itar-Tass) —— At present the health of ex-Prime Minister Yulia Timoshenko is in good condition. She is under continuous observation of doctors, a representative of the National Penitentiary Service of Ukraine reported on Saturday.

According to his report, a medical check-up of the ex-prime minister was conducted in one of the hospitals of Kharkov at her request (Timoshenko is being kept in an investigation prison of the Kachanov reformatory colony).

“The results of the check-up confirm the previous conclusions drawn by the commission of the Ukrainian Ministry of Public Health. No diseases, which require additional medical treatment, were found during the check-up. A clinical analysis of her blood was done with her consent in one of the Ministry’s laboratories. Its results are within the norm,” says a report of the press service.

Previously Timoshenko categorically refused to have such analyses done, explaining that she did not trust specialists from the Health Ministry.

At the same time, Marina Soroka, Timoshenko’s press secretary, told journalists that the ex-prime minister had not undergone any medical check-up, contrary to what was reported by the Penitentiary Service.

According to her information, Timoshenko agreed to a medical check-up to be done by independent doctors, which the Canadian government is willing to send, but “she will never agree to experiments staged on her by the doctors, who fully depend on the regime.”

“Yulia Timoshenko was not examined by the doctors, whom she trusts, and no blood test was done,” Ms. Soroka said.

“It is a pity that the authorities are turning the Health Ministry from an institution, which should handle public health problems, into a structure resembling a PR agency,” she stressed.
