Two policemen killed, one wounded in Nalchik attack

The attacker was killed by return fire

NALCHIK, January 7 (Itar-Tass) — Two policemen were killed and another one was wounded during an attack on a road police checkpoint in Nalchik, Kabardino-Balkaria, the republic’s investigative department told Itar-Tass on Saturday.

According to an investigator, at around 10:15 Moscow time a 27 year-old resident of Nalchik attacked a mobile police checkpoint in one of Nalchik’s districts stabbing one policeman. Then the attacker took a policeman’s submachine gun and opened fire, killing two policemen and wounding another one. A passerby was also wounded.

The attacker was killed by return fire.
