President Medvedev arrives at Cathedral of Christ the Savior

MOSCOW, January 7 (Itar-Tass) — Russian President Dmitry Medvedev and his wife have arrived in the Cathedral of Christ the Savior where a night Christmas service is under way. Patriarch of Moscow and all Russia Kirill is conducting the service.

President Medvedev always attends Christmas and Easter services.

Boris Yeltsin was the first secular leader who attended a Christmas service in 1992.

Tonight, more than 5,000 believers have gathered at the Cathedral of Christ the Savior in Moscow.

Russian State Duma deputies, members of the Federation Council and prominent public figures are also attending the night Christmas service.
