ASTANA, January 6 (Itar-Tass) —— Kazakhstan is tightening national security. President Nursultan Nazarbayev signed a law to that effect on Friday, the presidential press service reports.
The law targets for a new level of the systemic suppression of modern threats to national security, it said.
The law also tightens economic security; it defines the lowering of the sustainability of the financial system as a threat, Deputy Chairman of the Kazakh National Security Committee Gosman Amrin said.
“It defines national interests in the information, environmental and foreign policy spheres. The law actualizes national interests in the social sector and stresses the significance of high quality of healthcare, social security and education and further improvement of living standards,” he said while presenting the law to the parliament.
A competitive and protected information space is another priority defined by the law, he noted.
“Regulation of powers of state bodies in the provision of national security, division of their spheres of activity and provision of coordinated actions are a key novelty of the law,” he said.
Political security is singled out as a separate area of the provision of national security to include fundamentals of the constitutional system, the state machinery and the governance system, he said.
