Russians defeat Canadians in Junior Hockey Championship semifinal

OTTAWA, January 4 (Itar-Tass) — The Russian team defeated the Canadians 6:5 (2:0, 3:1, 1:4) in the World Junior Ice Hockey Championship semifinal.

The third period was very tense, when the score was 5:1 and then 6:1 in the Russian's favour at the beginning, but the Canadians scored four goals -- the first and the second at the tenth minute, the third eight minutes before the end, and the fourth two minutes after that. In the situation, Russian goalkeeper Andrei Vasilevsky was replaced by Andrei Makarov. The final score is 6:5 in the Russians' favour.

The Russian team will play vs the Swedes in the final. On Tuesday, the Swedes defeated Finland's team 3:2 (0:1, 0:1, 2:0, 0:0, 1:0).

The championship final will begin on January 5 at 18:00 (05:00 Moscow time, January 6).
