Belarusians should gain experience from events of past year

"We should just make a correct choice of how we shall live. Set an objective, and move towards its achievement firmly, steadily and persistently”, Lukashenko said

MINSK, January 1 (Itar-Tass) —— Belarusians should gain experience from the events of the past year, Belarus’ President Alexander Lukashenko told in his New Year address to the nation.

“We shall not let happen any economic slump, unemployment, curbing of social programmes and arguments in the society. We have not given in under the problems; we have not let them take over us. Despite everything we have proved to be a strong and close family, a united and truly great nation. We may and should be proud of it.”

Lukashenko added that “each of us has an opportunity to improve this world, and our Fatherland. We should just make a correct choice of how we shall live. Set an objective, and move towards its achievement firmly, steadily and persistently – this is our way.”

“This is a fate of a strong and viable state,” he continued. “Making Belarus strong and respected, making it a comfortable good house for all – this is the task which we have set as a most important for us.”

Lukashenko expressed confidence that the republic, its people will reach the objective. But “nobody and nothing but ourselves will bring to us peace and prosperity. We shall live like we work.”

“Besides, the most important resource nowadays is time,” the president said. “If we stop in our development, if we slow down the growth or lose the rhythm – we may lag behind for years.”
