MOSCOW, December 31 (Itar-Tass) —— Patriarch Kirill of Moscow and All Russia led a New Year religious service at Moscow’s Cathedral of Christ the Saviour on Saturday, December 31.

He thanked God for “the mercies bestowed in the past year” and expressed hope that God’s love will be with Russia in the coming year.

The patriarch wished every Russian “physical and spiritual health and well-being” and urged everyone to pray “for our country, for the unity of the nation so that people could pool their efforts and overcome the difficulties the country is going though”.

“God hears our prayers,” Kirill said and wished everyone a strong belief and a peaceful year “for all the peoples of our historical Holy Rus”.
