Ukraine cancels export of domestically produced oil in 2012

Naftogaz Ukrainy and its subsidiaries were given permission to export Ukraine-produced natural gas in an amount set by the ministry concerned

KIEV, December 31 (Itar-Tass) —— The government of Ukraine has prohibited the export of crude oil of domestic production in 2012, the press-service of the Cabinet of Ministers said this week.

Should a decision in favor of oil export be made, the licenses will be issued on the basis of a resolution by a special commission of the Economic Development and Trade Ministry.

In 2010-2011 natural gas and oil of Ukrainian origin were on the list of items to be licensed, but no quotas had to be authorized. According to the state statistics service, Ukraine in January-September exported no natural gas or crude oil with gas condensate.

On June 17 the Ukrainian parliament allowed the export of Ukrainian natural gas by adopting a law on the basic principles of the operation of natural gas market. Naftogaz Ukrainy and its subsidiaries were given permission to export Ukraine-produced natural gas in an amount set by the ministry concerned.
