MOSCOW, December 30 (Itar-Tass) —— The fire onboard the Yekaterinburg nuclear submarine was fully localized, the reactor was halted, neither radiation contamination nor casualties were reported, a source in the information department of the Defence Ministry said, noting that several crewmen are staying onboard the nuclear submarine.

“The fire on the shell of the external hull of the strategic nuclear submarine Yekaterinburg, which is in the dock of the shipyard in Roslyakovo, the Murmansk Region, was fully localized. No open fire was reported,” the source said.

“The firemen are pouring water on the light hull and the space between light and pressure hulls of the submarine in the places of fire,” the source said.
