GORNO-ALTAISK, December 30 (Itar-Tass) —— All residents of Kyzyl, the capital of Tuva Republic, returned home overnight after a powerful earthquake on December 27. “Not a single person spent the night in evacuation premises,” city emergencies chief Lyudmila Krasovskaya told Tass.
Over 2000 people, mostly tenants of high-rise apartment blocs, spent the first night after the quake in evacuation premises. The next day their number reduced to 300. Many residents stayed at their relatives in low-rise houses.
However Krasovskaya said the evacuation center remains ready for aftershocks and other emergencies as the high-alert regime has not been lifted.
