SOssetia opposition leader expects Russia to send new mediators

I hope Russia will decide on new mediators who will seriously consider the situation and will bring it back to the field of law - Dzhioyeva

MOSCOW, December 29 (Itar-Tass) —— Former South Ossetian presidential candidate Alla Dzhioyeva hopes that Russia will send new mediators to the republic to bring the situation back to the field of law.

“I try to get results from the Russian leadership, as the previous mediators [of Russia in South Ossetia] used methods unworthy of Moscow officials,” she said in a live broadcast of radio Echo of Moscow here on Thursday. “I hope Russia will decide on new mediators who will seriously consider the situation and will bring it back to the field of law.” “If they tell me that I violated some constitutional or legal provisions in the course of the election campaign I will concede. But I need clear arguments. I don’t want emotions. I don’t want allusions to decisions of the Supreme Court which is not in the field of flaw. I must be given facts. Only this can be reason for annulling the election results,” Dzhioyeva said.

“It’s a shame that certain destructive forces try to unsettle the situation in South Ossetia in the run up to the presidential election in Russia,” she said.

Regarding new negotiators, Dzhioyeva noted that she has “a highly respectful attitude to the entire Russian Foreign Ministry” and links “certain hopes with it.” What is more, she stressed, “the Russian presidential candidate [Vladimir Putin] will now be doing the utmost toward returning the situation in South Ossetia to the field of law,” she said.
