Seven people injured in Tu-134 emergency landing in Kyrgyzstan

A special commission was set up to investigate the accident

BISHKEK, December 28 (Itar-Tass) — Seven people were injured as a result of an emergency landing of a Tu-134 plane in the airport in Osh, southern Kyrgyzstan, on Wednesday.

The plane is owned by the national air carrier Kyrgyzstan Airlines.

“At present, all of them were taken to local hospitals, there has been no information about their health so far,” an official at the Osh regional administration told Itar-Tass.

It said among those injured are several children.

“According to the preliminary information, bad weather conditions, in particular heavy fog, caused the emergency landing of the plane that took off in Bishkek,” the air carrier told Itar-Tass. “Moreover, it is not ruled that a part of the landing strip was covered with ice. But all these versions are being investigated.”

A special commission was set up to investigate the accident.

According to some sources, the plane stopped beyond the landing strip on one side, breaking off its wing.

Soon after this witnesses heard something like a blast or click.

Local mass media reported that after the emergency landing the plane caught fire.
