Sayano-Shushenskaya HPP operates as scheduled after earthquake

The earthquake measured 3.4 points on the MSK-64 scale in the gates of the hydropower plant

MOSCOW, December 28 (Itar-Tass) —— The Sayano-Shushenskaya hydropower plant operates as scheduled, no technological failures were detected in the equipment at the station, a RusHydro source said on Wednesday.

The earthquake, which rocked the Republic of Tuva at about 23:21 local time on December 27, 325 kilometres southeast of the hydropower plant, did not damage the hydropower facilities and the equipment at the plant.

The earthquake measured 3.4 points on the MSK-64 scale in the gates of the hydropower plant.

The specialists of the Sayano-Shushenskaya hydropower plant has made a visual examination of the equipment and hydropower facilities (the Maina hydroelectric power plant, the 500 KW switchgear ORU-500, the Sayano-Shushenskaya hydropower plant and a coastal water discharge) and found no damages in the equipment. Instrumentation measurements and visual examinations found neither damages nor cracks in the Sayano-Shushenskaya hydropower plant.
