PYONGYANG, December 28 (Itar-Tass) — North Korea is holding a state funeral for its former leader Kim Jong Il, who died at the age of 69 on December 17.

Millions of North Koreans filled the streets to pay their last respects to Kim Jong Il. The funeral salutes will be fired all over the country and all citizens will bow their heads in a three minute silence.

Kim Jong Il’s body will be embalmed and placed in a glass sarcophagus in the Kumsusan Memorial Palace in Pyongyang, where his father Kim Il Sung’s embalmed body lies.
