MOSCOW, December 27 (Itar-Tass) —— The effects of the world economic crisis in Russia have been overcome, Prime Minister Vladimir Putin said at this year’s last meeting of the government, attended by President Dmitry Medvedev.

“We have done a great deal this year to strengthen the basis of the Russian economy,” Putin said. “This is a good result.”

He added that the efforts along these lines would not have been as productive as they were without presidential support, without close contact with the Bank of Russia and other departments, non-governmental organizations and trade unions.

“The decisions that we made relied on the interests of all groups and were shaped without any haste,” Putin said.

“It cost us great efforts to get out of the recession that the crisis had dragged us into,” Putin said. “But at the end of this year the effects of the global economic crisis in the Russian economy have been overcome. This is a good result.”

Putin remarked that there remained certain nuances the government should pay attention to irrespective of the political calendar, such as social issues, people’s incomes and so on. In conclusion the prime minister thanked all government members for doing a good job and congratulated them upon the coming New Year.
