MOSCOW, December 27 (Itar-Tass) — President Dmitry Medvedev said completion of the test launches of the Bulava intercontinental ballistic missile is "a very important step."
"Despite the persisting problems in aerospace, we've taken a very important step in the past few days: we completed the cycle of flight tests of a modern system in the Navy's strategic nuclear forces," the president said referring to the newest Bulava missile.
"This cycle was not running easily: there were certain problems, however, our industry proved that it is capable of developing new modern and highly effective kinds of strategic armaments," Medvedev told senior officers on the occasion of their new appointments and promotion.
"One of such weapons is the Bulava system, which will be added to the arsenal after completion of all the tests," the president said.
The latest test in December when a nuclear submarine fired a salvo of two Bulavas was successful.
