MOSCOW, December 26 (Itar-Tass) — Prime Minister Vladimir Putin said the government should use modern means of communications with society more actively.
Speaking at a meeting of the State Council on Monday, December 26, Putin noted a presentation by one of the governors who cited former U.S. President Theodore Roosevelt’s radio addressed on labour relations.
“During the Great Depression, Roosevelt spoke on the radio on different topics, not only labour relations. The main purpose [of the radio addresses] was nationwide psychotherapy to inspire citizens with confidence in their future,” the prime minister said.
“There was no television at that time, let alone the Internet. We have different means for working with public organisations, but we use them ineffectively and should step up these efforts,” he said.
