YEKATERINBURG, December 26 (Itar-Tass) — The fire extinguishing efforts at the major merchandise market Tagansky Ryad continue in Yekaterinburg. The blaze has been localised. A third warehouse is burning. Two warehouses have burnt out. The Russian Emergency Situations Ministry's (EMERCOM) main department for the Sverdlovsk region told Itar-Tass that the area of the fire is 4,000 square metres. The market is partly working.
Community transport traffic in the area of the fire is still blocked.
The fire alarm came at 12:25, Moscow time, on December 25.
As many as 32 units of fire-rescue equipment and more than 150 people are involved in the fire fighting efforts. A fire fighting train is expected to arrive at the scene.
“The roofs and walls of two warehouses tumbled down. The firemen are trying to put out fire in the third warehouse. One fireman is hurt, but doctors say his condition is satisfactory. The firemen concentrate on the protection of other warehouses from the fire. Thirty-two fire engines and more than 150 firemen are putting out the blaze. A fire train is moving towards the site from the Kuzino station in the Pervouralsk city area,” an emergency department source said earlier.
