MOSCOW, December 26 (Itar-Tass) —— The justice of the peace of the Tverskoy District Court arrested the leader of the Left Front opposition movement Sergei Udaltsov for ten days, press secretary of the court Yekaterina Ilyina told Itar-Tass on Sunday.
“Udaltsov was found guilty under Article 19.3 of the Administrative Offence Code for the non-fulfilment of lawful demands of law enforcers during a sole picket at the Central Elections Commission building on October 24 and was sentenced to ten days of arrest,” she said.
Lawyer Nikolai Polozov noted that Udaltsov did not plead guilty.
On Sunday, Udaltsov was to be released from custody, where he was being kept for the non-fulfilment of the demands of law enforcers during an unauthorized rally in Moscow on December 4. After putting in the detention centre Udaltsov went on a hunger strike that resulted in his hospitalization. The rest of the term in custody he served already upon the discharge from the hospital.
Sergei Udaltsov’s video address was showed for the participants in a multi-thousand action of protest under the slogan “For Fair Elections!” on Academician Sakharov Avenue in Moscow last Saturday.
