MOSCOW, December 25 (Itar-Tass) — Billionaire businessman Mikhail Prokhorov, who hopes to run for presidency in the March 2012 presidential election, plans to put up his program for a public discussion and he does not rule out that it will lay the groundwork for setting up a new party in the liberal section of the political spectrum.
“I’d like to perform well in the presidential election and I’ll take a decision /regarding the party/ depending on whether or not the voters support my program but I do think new political parties should appear indeed,” Prokhorov said as he addressed reporters in his “public reception lounge” where the procedure of signing up in support of his participation in the presidential race has begun.
“The program is being written by dignified people,” he said, adding that he will put it together personally.
Prokhorov promised that the document will be uploaded in the Internet this coming Wednesday or Thursday and he hopes that its initial discussion will be held online, too.
“The discussion will be open to the public,” he said. “I’ll spend a month working on this program because I’d like to know in detail what the voters really want.”
“Man, his dignity and his freedoms will be the centerpieces” of the document, which will be generally based on “simple common human values.”
Prokhorov also promised to name the head of his electoral staff next week.
When Itar-Tass asked him about his plans for the New Year vacation, which will last from December 31 through to January 9 in this country, Prokhorov admitted the presidential race has changed his customs of spending this part of the winter season at plush foreign resorts.
“I don’t have time for holidaymaking right now,” he said.
