FISU to hold seminar on organization of Universiade 2013 in Kazan

Members of the FISU delegation will examine 64 key facilities of the forthcoming Universiade

KAZAN, December 24 (Itar-Tass) —— The International University Sports Federation (FISU) will hold in Kazan a seminar on the organization and holding of the Universiade 2013 due to be held on January 17-19, ITAR-TASS learnt at the press service of the executive directorate “Kazan 2013” on Saturday.

“To organize the seminar, a FISU delegation headed by secretary general of the presidium of the Federation Eric Saintrond will arrive in the capital of Tatarstan,” a representative of the executive directorate said. The delegation includes director of the Summer Universiade Marc Vandenplas, chairman of the international Technical Commission John Warnock, chairman of the FISU Medical Commission Lawrence Rink and other specialists.

Working sessions of FISU specialists with staffers of the executive directorate “Kazan 2013”, leaders of federal and republican ministries and departments, who participate in the preparation and holding of the 27th World Student Games, will be held within the framework of the seminar.

The working sessions will discuss the main directions of the preparation and holding of the Games - - sport management, security, medical ensuring and doping-control. The tasks of the media, television broadcasting, readiness of information technologies and communications for servicing international competitions will also be considered.

Members of the FISU delegation will examine 64 key facilities of the forthcoming Universiade. The commission will estimate technical equipping and readiness of sports complexes for sports competitions.

The World Students Games were held in Russia for the first time in Moscow in 1973. For the second time, they will be held in the capital of Tatarstan from July 6 to 17, 2013. Some 12,000 sportsmen from 170 countries, up to 100,000 guests and tourists, a half of which are foreigners, will take part in them. Sportsmen will compete in 13 obligatory and 14 additional sports.
