MOSCOW, December 23 (Itar-Tass) — Former South Ossetian presidential candidate Alla Dzhioyeva has asked the Russian administration for assisting the republic to return to the ‘constitutional field.’
The South Ossetian Supreme Council cancelled the presidential election of November 27, 2011, and scheduled a new election for March 25, 2012. Dzhioyeva insists on her victory in the November election.
She strongly opposed attempts to present the South Ossetian situation as ‘an orange or snow revolution’ at a Friday press conference in Moscow. “My supporters, voters and I are not the losers. We are the authentic winners of the election. Maidan is what the losers do,” she said. “Bureaucrats and former authorities of the republic organized an orange revolution in South Ossetia with arbitrariness and flagrant violations of the constitution and all laws.”
“Under these circumstances, I, as the lawfully elected president of an independent state – an ally of Russia, appeal to Russian President Dmitry Medvedev and Prime Minister, presidential candidate Vladimir Putin to be the guarantors of the return of the republic to the ‘constitutional field’,” Dzhioyeva said.
