MOSCOW, December 23 (Itar-Tass) —— More than 31,000 crimes connected with corruption have been stopped in Russia in 2011, Russian Prosecutor General Yuri Chaika said at a coordination meeting on Friday.
“In the current year, 225,000 violations of legislation were revealed, over 31,000 crimes connected with corruption, one third of which is bribery, were stopped,” he said.
According to the prosecutor general, they managed to overcome the negative practice of forming indices of the fight with bribery by means of calling to account mainly bribe-givers, many of which were provoked to commit crimes by law enforcers.
“This year twice as many bribe-takers, the activity of which is most dangerous, as bribe-givers were revealed already,” Chaika said.
