ASTANA, December 22 (Itar-Tass) — Kazakhstan President Nursultan Nazarbayev met on Thursday afternoon with residents of the town of Zhanaozen in the west of the republic where mass disturbances had occurred involving dismissed oil companies' personnel, Secretary of the Nur Otan People's Democratic Party Yerlan Karin reported on Twitter. Nazarbayev is leader of Nur Otan.

"In Zhanaozen, the president met with residents, and now he's meeting with Zhanaozen's body of active functionaries," Karin said.
