Russian President Dmitry Medvedev said on Thursday that Russia’s WTO accession was a major result of the recent years

MOSCOW, December 22 (Itar-Tass) — Russian President Dmitry Medvedev said on Thursday that Russia’s WTO accession was a major result of the recent years.

“It is a very important result – Russia been admitted to the WTO after 18 years of negotiations. The marathon of negotiations has ended on terms that fully respect the interests of our country. Now we must learn to work in that organization getting maximum benefit from our accession,” President Medvedev said in his state-of-the-nation address on Thursday.

“WTO accession is a significant factor of Russia’s integration into the world economy. It meets both our national interests and the goals of stabilization of the international trade system,” the president stressed.
