MOSCOW, December 22 (Itar-Tass) —— Russian President Dmitry Medvedev has called for resisting internal and external migration and for eliminating its economic basis.
“It is necessary to do away with the economic basis of mass internal migration and also for the concentration of external migration in individual regions of the country,” Medvedev said in his annual message to the Federal Assembly.
Also, he said “there must created conditions for the outpacing development of depressive densely populated regions.”
The head of state acknowledged that “international and internal migration continues to cause serious tensions, in particular, in large cities, where it sometimes breeds inter-ethnic discord and conflicts.”
