MOSCOW, December 22 (Itar-Tass) — President Medvedev has suggested establishing control over officials’ expenditures on real estate, transport vehicles and securities.
"I believe it is correct establishing control over the expenditures of officials who occupy state posts in the Russian Federation and a number of posts in the federal state service in cases when their expenditures obviously do not conform to their incomes," Medvedev said. "At issue is declaring the expenditures on purchase of land, real estate, transport facilities and securities," Medvedev said in his annual state-of-the-nation address.
Enacting this measure alongside administering multiple fines envisaged in the Criminal Code, dismissal in connection with the loss of confidence because of implication in corruption and other measures is , in fact, the realization of the ideas of the UN Convention against corruption, establishment of responsibility for illegal incomes," Medvedev said, adding the responsibility should be established in accordance "with the principles of precisely our legal system."
